Here are two interesting article, about two completely different subjects.
Article #1: Living on 1,000 RMB a month
This is an essay that has been translated from Chinese to English. It was written by a 25 year old, university educated woman living in Shanghai who works as a copyrighter and she makes 1,000 RMB a month. This converts to about $128 U.S. dollars.

Article #2: Unhappy Meals
Michael Pollan writes about the faulty views of nutritionism in the mind of American consumers. He advocates going back to more natural foods and avoiding the current health fad of the day. Here is the introduction to the twelve page article:
Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.
That, more or less, is the short answer to the supposedly incredibly complicated and confusing question of what we humans should eat in order to be maximally healthy. I hate to give away the game right here at the beginning of a long essay, and I confess that I’m tempted to complicate matters in the interest of keeping things going for a few thousand more words.

1000RMB per month is really not enough in Shanghai. I don't know why a university graduate get only 1000RMB per month. Life is so hard for her.
