Before I moved to Singapore, I had only been able to meet two Singaporeans. One was a Singaporean exchange student to Japan that I met while attending the Japan America Student Conference, and the other was a journalism student named Laura Chia that I briefly lived with for a summer in the Christian Campus House of Mizzou.
Ever since I moved to Singapore two and a half years ago, I've been trying off and on to find "that Singaporean I used to know from CCH." The island's pretty small, so I'd occasionally ask Singaporean friends if they knew anyone named Laura that studied journalism in Missouri. Nobody knew. When I first moved here, I sent a few e-mails to old CCHers, but nobody could recall.
Today I finally received an e-mail that allowed me to locate Laura. She currently is living as a pseudo-public figure. She's got her own "Missouri School of Journalism- Profiles of Success" page. You probably have heard of what she does, but you've never heard of her. She's still living in the states, and, of all things, she's a hotdogger who drives the Oscar-Meyer Wienermobile.
There's a chance that she won't even remember me, but maybe in the next three years I'll find her e-mail address.
