It's hard to believe I've been back in the U.S. for almost two weeks! On the way back I got pretty upset. The Transport Security Administration ripped up my bag at the Minneapolis International Airport in order to search for illegal contraband. Well, at least I didn't have any. Oh wait... I never carry illegal items.
Here are some pictures of the damagaged luggage. Here are the shards of plastic that were destroyed inside my luggage.
The TSA left a standardized note apologizing for any inconvenience or damages telling me that I could file a claim. I called the number and, as I understand it, in order to file a claim you must first get a third party to assess your damages. After that you must fill out copious amounts of paperwork and then an investigator hired by the government would be assigned to my case to determine if the damage was truly caused by the TSA. I decided that doing all of that would be a collosal waste of my time and my U.S. tax dollars, especially over a $40 suitcase. I called Kit Bond's Springfield office simply to file a complaint, but so far no one has returned my phone call.
