Vicki E. Snider has written a book titled Myths and Misconceptions about Teaching. The D-Ed Reckoning education blog has an incredibly thorough review of the book, and just reading the review will help people understand some common pitfalls of American educators. I haven't read this book, but from the review I read it looks like its assessment and advice about education is perfectly accurate.
