The comedy news site The Onion apparently censors material for Singapore readers. Today when I tried to click a link titled "McCain Blasts Obama for Being Out of Touch in Burma Shave Style Campaign," I received an error message. My gut instinct is that the page is censored because it has "Burma" in the title and the Singapore government has been cracking down on Burmese protesters. However, if that were the case it would be totally asinine because, at least from the headline, the article references Burma Shave- a totally different thing! Moreover, I don't think that this is the action of the Singapore government since I can still access their site. When the Singapore government censors something, the error message looks like this:
(Lest you get any dirty ideas in your head, I generated this error message by attempting to visit Jack Chick's website Chick.com, a fundamentalist Christian tract site.)By the way, this happened once before.
