I'm throwing this out to see if anyone can help.
An aquaintance of mine invited me to a Chinese New Year party in Melaka, Malaysia. I went down to the bus terminal across from the Victoria street wholesale market and purchased a ticket. The man wouldn't sell me a round trip ticket. "You get the return ticket on the other side," he said.
The problem is my friend in Melaka can't seem to locate a Tuesday night return ticket for me. All of the buses are booked. If any readers of this blog can tell me a safe way to get from Melaka to Singapore on Tuesday night, I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

NEED TICKET FROM MELAKA TO SINGAPORE

Hey, I have tried that! Went to Melaka during peak seasons and I agree, its really a challenge! If you are w/ friends, you can hire a cab in Melaka to send you at JB. Normally, cab drivers are looking for this ops cos they will earn more. You might want to check with your friend how much they charge.
Another option, the moment you land in Melaka, (I suppose you’ll get off at the bus station), you may check all other buses and purchase your ticket. However, this is too risky (well, the cab is risky too) high possibility that tickets are all sold out! Can your friend just get you a ticket today???? Or someone in Melaka should get you one. The safest? Don’t leave Singapore unless you have sure ticket coming back here. unless you are up for some adventure :) Enjoy your holidays! I love Melaka! :)
Get a ticket to Johor Bahru (there should be much more busses plying the Malacca-JB route than Malacca-Singapore route), and then take an express bus (CW-2 or SJE) or just plain ol' 170 if you're cheap into Singapore.
You could also get a train ticket instead - though the station is a bit far out from downtown Malacca.
Worse comes to worse, get a ticket to KL, and then a ticket down back to JB or Singapore. I'll advise you get your friend to get a ticket ASAP. Tuesdays is the worst time to travel - the end of a four day weekend where everyone, not just Chinese, decides to go back to their hometowns.
(Cross-country taxis, btw, are horribly expensive. Maybe you could walk around a neighbourhood, chance upon a Singaporean car and demand the driver takes you along - cry for added effect).
Hey, thanks everyone. I've solved this problem. I managed to get a bus ticket, and immediately after paying for the bus ticket, I found out about someone going in their car. Now I'm not sure what I'll do. Do I take the bus ticket that I paid for or do I go in the car. At least it is a good dilemma.
Dude, take the car! =)
Enjoy the holidays. Happy Chinese New Year!
Dear CNEIL,
Which bus company did you book?
